Whether in a bustling Japanese metropolis, a snow-covered Canadian town, or a village in the deserts of Iran, I capture my travel memories and impressions in ink illustrations, often portraying street life, vernacular buildings, and the people around them. Over the years, this ongoing collection has been compiled into a cohesive body of work, some of which is presented in this gallery.

The artworks presented in this collection are inspired by Persian gardens, which have been interwoven in Persian art and culture since ancient times, inspiring artists, poets, architects, and calligraphers.
Symbolizing paradise on earth, these courtyard gardens have been appreciated for thousands of years in towns and villages around the arid deserts of Persia. Passing through the garden gate, one enters an oasis with cool shade under a variety of fruit trees, fragrant flowers, and carefully designed pools and waterways with gently flowing water.
This collection is a contemplative act on paper, incorporating basic geometric shapes and a limited colour palette.

Since ancient times, knots have been associated with union, but also with complication. All around the world human rights are under threat, and this collection of entangled knots represents this complicated problem. The common theme behind these works is women’s and children’s issues, and the freedom of individuals to live their lives in dignity. As an element of hope for the future, these flower-shaped knots, like all knots, can be untied. The fight for social justice continues and this is my protest act on paper.
